Opening Discussion

  • What are some things that people find purpose in apart from Christ?

Shortened Version

Read and Discuss

1 Corinthians 15:13-14

13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is in vain, and so is your faith.

  • Why is the resurrection so important to Paul?
  • Why is our faith void if the resurrection doesn’t exist?
  • What else would happen if there was no resurrection?
  • How can you know that Jesus really did come back to life?

John 4:34

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.

John 6:29

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

John 6:38

For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

Luke 4:43

But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.”

Luke 10:16

“The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

  • These verses all talk about Jesus being sent for a specific purpose. What were the things Jesus was sent to do?
  • What does it mean for you to be sent by God?
  • What are some things you are to do as a part of God’s kingdom?
    • What obstacles will you face?

Discipleship Questions

  • Who was sent into your life to tell you about Jesus?
  • Who is someone you could have a Christ-centered conversation with this week?
  • How can you live in the freedom of Christ coming back from the grave this week?

John 20:19-20

19 When it was evening on that first day of the week, the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked because they feared the Jews. Jesus came, stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

20 Having said this, he showed them his hands and his side. So the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

  • Why were the disciples living in fear?
  • How does Jesus’ message of peace contradict the disciples’ current circumstances and feelings?
  • What are ways you can have Jesus’ peace even in the midst of hardship and turmoil in life?
  • Why did Jesus offer proof to the disciples that it was really Him?
  • What proof do we have that Jesus came back to life?
