Opening Discussion

  • Who are two or three people that were instrumental in you giving your life to Jesus?

Shortened Version

Read Matthew 28:16-17

16 The eleven disciples traveled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped, but some doubted.

  • Why did some of the eleven disciples still doubt?
  • How can you worship through your doubts?
  • When you have doubts about your faith, what do you do?

Read Matthew 28:18-20

18 Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • Why does Jesus start by saying “all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth?”
    • What does this establish?
  • Jesus tells the disciples to make disciples and teach them what He taught them.  Why does He add baptism in there as something disciples should do?
  • What are some ways you make disciples or teach others about Jesus in your own life?

Discipleship Questions

  • If you haven’t been baptized, what is keeping you from making that step?
    • If you have been baptized, what led you to that decision?
  • What is something you can do this week to make disciples?
    • Who will help you do that?
