Onelifechurch   -

Hey Huddle Leader! The top section of the Huddle is designed to complete in about 10-15 minutes. The second part will include the top section, but with more discussion questions and possibly some more verses. The prayer portion will be at the end so if you do the top portion you will have to scroll down to the prayer section. At One Life we evaluate everything for continual improvement, so if you have suggestions for the Huddle please email [email protected]

Opening Discussion

  • What is something lighthearted you did this week that people wouldn’t deem as very wise? (i.e. stayed up too late wasting time, walking into a parked car, showing up to something at the complete wrong time, etc.)

Shorter Version

Read and Discuss

Read Proverbs 1:1-7

1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; 3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; 4 for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young— 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance— 6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Read James 1:5

5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.

  • Why does the Bible make such a big deal about wisdom?
  • What does Solomon mean by “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge?”
  • What can you do to get wisdom this week?

Read Proverbs 2:1-6

1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2 listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding; 3 furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure, 5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. 6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

  • What are some ways we can search for wisdom and understanding?
  • What does it mean to fear the Lord and why is it linked to wisdom?
  • When directing your heart to understanding, how can you make sure that you are following the Lord’s wisdom and not the worlds?

Discipleship Questions

  • What are some ways you can seek God’s wisdom through reading the Bible this week?
  • What is one thing you can do this week to grow in wisdom?
  • Who is someone you can talk to about this to help you in your wisdom searching?

Jeremiah 17:9-10

9  The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable—who can understand it? 10 I, the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.

  • If we aren’t careful how can godly wisdom drift back into worldly, selfish wisdom?
    • What are some ways you’ve seen this happen in your life or in someone around you?

Read Proverbs 10:17

The one who follows instruction is on the path to life, but the one who rejects correction goes astray.
