Onelifechurch   -

Message Recap: This week Pastor Bret took a step back to show how the articles weren’t just important for the worship of the Israelites, or for just pointing to Jesus, but it was also showing us practical ways to worship every day.

Opening Question

Read and Discuss

2 Chronicles 7:4-6, 8-10 NASB

4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the Lord. 5 King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. Thus the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. 6 The priests stood at their posts, and the Levites also, with the instruments of music to the Lord, which King David had made for giving praise to the Lord—“for His lovingkindness is everlasting”—whenever he gave praise by their means, while the priests on the other side blew trumpets; and all Israel was standing.

8 So Solomon observed the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly who came from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt. 9 On the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for the dedication of the altar they observed seven days and the feast seven days. 10 Then on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and happy of heart because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David and to Solomon and to His people Israel.

  • What were some of the spiritual practices that Solomon and the priests did to consecrate and dedicate the temple?
  • Why did Solomon send the people home?
  • How did their worship continue even while they weren’t in the temple?
  • What are some ways people grow spiritually?
  • What are some ways we can take those things that help us grow spiritually, and make them practical on a daily basis?
  • What is one small step you can take this week to make a spiritual discipline, a practical daily habit?
    • When will you take the first step?
    • How long each day will you do this practice? (Start small!)
    • What will you do if you miss the time you said you were going to do the spiritual discipline?
    • Who is someone that can help you with this?
    • Will you set a reminder in your phone right now to remind yourself?

Colossians 1:15-20 NIV

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

  • What is Paul telling the Colossians about who Jesus is?
  • Why is this passage important to us today?
  • What does reconcile mean?
  • Since all things are reconciled to God through Jesus, what does that mean for your daily life?
  • What are some ways you can make the practical things you do everyday, work, school, family, free time, etc. spiritual?
  • What is something practical you do everyday that you can start viewing through the lens of making the practical spiritual?

Challenge Question

  • What one thing can you starting today or tomorrow, to take an every day task and direct it toward worshiping the Lord?

Memory Verse

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Prayer TACOS

Thank God for those epic moments of worship where He has shown up in cool ways. Also thank Him for allowing everyday tasks to be worship as well.

Adoration- Think of one fascinating thing about His Creation and talk to Him about how awesome it is that He made that

Confess to those times where you’ve just lived your life for yourself and not in worship to Him.

Others- Pray for a friend who used to go to church, but has gotten out of the habit. Pray that you can talk to them this week about the importance of everyday worship and corporate worship.

Self- Ask the Lord to help you take small steps towards Him this week.
