Mind over Matter, Manifesting, and Praise

Dan Sullivan   -

1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!

2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

3 Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

There is a popular thing to do today that people call manifesting. Without getting too much into it, it’s a form of witchcraft in which people think they make something happen by acting like it’s happening. Or they think about it a whole bunch and therefore the things comes into existence.

It’s shown up in the church over the years with phrases like “name it and claim it” or more tongue in cheek: “blab it and grab it.”

The truth that shows in the lie of manifesting is that we can actually control our moods apart from our circumstances. One way to express and exercise this power that doesn’t try to control the universe with your mind powers is to praise the Lord no matter your circumstances.

This is what rejoicing in the truth looks like. We don’t praise God to manipulate Him into doing our will. We praise God because He is worthy of our praise – no matter what we are going through.

In David’s day, a kingdom could put their hope in princes and horses for their guidance and protection. Today we have politicians and celebrities, armies and technology. When we put our trust or guidance or hope in those things, we’ll be disappointed. Only the one true God can satisfy all of your hopes and needs.

So rather than trying to be a mini-god and manifest all your dreams, begin praising the God of all good things. He created the Heavens and the Earth. He even created that yearning inside of you to want purpose and meaning so that you would find it in Him.

Praise God for no reason. Praise God for every reason. Praise God on Mondays and praise God on Fridays. He is the everlasting God. He has been working on His kingdom here on Earth for thousands of years, and He’s working in it in you today.
