Show and Tell about Jesus No Matter The Consequences

Dan Sullivan   -

39 but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice, 40 and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. 42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.

Honor is a tricky thing. We know it when we give it, and we know it when we see someone that has it. We even know it when we feel it taken away. Sometimes we know how to seek it, and often, after the fact, we see where we should have given it out some.

But Peter and John were “rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.” This wasn’t some martyr complex they had from conspiracy theories. They had bleeding wounds on their backs! This wasn’t someone shouting “help help, I’m being repressed!”

If you are reading this on a computer or a phone, let’s lift up our brothers and sisters in the world that are suffering dishonor today. They are sore and need healing. It’s easy to dwell on how bad the evil is, but take the path the Apostles took. Rejoice for your brothers and sisters and pray that they would be able to rejoice too.

Pray that they would not cease and that we wouldn’t either, to tell everyone that “the Christ is Jesus.”

What does that mean?

In Jerusalem at that time, almost everyone was longing and looking for the Christ. They were looking for the solution to all of their problems and the rescue from all of their pain. All of that is what “The Christ” means.

Peter and John and the rest were simply telling everyone that the thing y’all have been waiting for to make your life awesome and to get total contentment in your life … The salvation and peace you’ve been longing for … That’s what Jesus is.

Everyone is constantly wanting something. They are filling up in their flesh the delight and satisfaction that only the Christ can bring. That thing that everyone wants deep down in their soul is a guy, and His name is Jesus.

Pray for boldness. Pray for rejoicing. And let’s go temple to house and house to marketplace telling people about Jesus.
