Believe What The Holy Spirit Has to Show and Teach

Dan Sullivan   -

Luke 12:10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Luke 12:11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say,

Luke 12:12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Jesus is teaching the people about how valuable they are to God, and how much God is going to take care of them. Then He says this thing about everything being forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Some people believe this is like cursing God or doing some kind of Satanic ritual. Fortunately or unfortunately, it’s not that elaborate and it’s not that intentional. This is basically saying the same thing that Paul says in Romans 10:13 and Peter says in Acts 2:21 – Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

If someone doesn’t believe the things that Jesus says about God, they are blaspheming, or denying His truth. The verse right before this says whoever denies Jesus before men, Jesus will deny at the judgment.

So if you are reading this right now, your sins can be forgiven. Actually, I’ll just tell you, your sins have been forgiven by Jesus. If you believe that to be true, then Jesus grants salvation and makes it true. If you don’t believe it is true, then the judgment and wrath He took in your place will be all yours.

The Holy Spirit makes all of this happen. Our faith and belief, our growth, all of that is the work of the Holy Spirit responding to our openness to His work.

That’s why we don’t have to worry about the right things to say — or even worse — daydream about the smackdown comment we can give somebody as a retort. Yep, you know who you are. We all do it. The better way is to spend that time drawing near to God and learning what He is like. Then, at the moment of contention, you’ll talk like the Holy Being that you’ve been spending time with.

I once heard somebody say that we parent the way that we’ve been parented. So, take some time to watch and learn how God has parented you so that you can parent in that way. This is in the same vein. Don’t worry about what you will say to explain the work of the Holy Spirit, get in on it and experience it.

Green Bay does not have training classes on how to be an insane Packers fan. I didn’t instruct my kids on how to make their eyes water the first time they see an Indy 500 car go past at 200+ miles per hour.

Trust and believe everything Jesus said. What He said about the Holy Spirit will prove to be true in one way or another, if you let Him do it. Then you won’t have trouble with the right words. You’ll have trouble shutting up.
