What did discipline look like in your house growing up?
From your viewpoint, have you historically thought that humanity is ultimately “good”? Or used the term describing someone as a “good person”? What defines someone as “good”?
Have you ever thought of someone being “Good”, but came to find out something evil about them? Example: Harvey Weinstein currently in the news // Someone who killed people and when you talk to their neighbors, they say they were “good people” and are so surprised.

Bret told a story about manipulating his Dad as an expression of his sinfulness — What are examples of things you know you did that were sinful, manipulative, or deceptive.
Example: manipulating your parents for a reason why you didn’t do something or did do something.

RC Sproul wrote: Total depravity is not utter depravity. Utter depravity would mean that we are all as sinful as we possibly could be. We know that is not the case. No matter how much each of us has sinned, we are able to think of worse sins that we could have committed. Even Adolf Hitler refrained from murdering his mother.
Total depravity means sin affects every part of who we are.
Does this idea of total depravity lead you to a feeling of hopelessness? Why or Why not?
Read Ephesians 2:1-10
According to scripture, how can the depravity of man inspire us to worship?
