Because 50 Day 17

Scripture Reading: John 11:25-26
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, let the reality of the resurrection build my faith so I can trust your promises.
Going Deeper:
The passage you read above serves as a prophecy for what Jesus would do, but it also is a description of who He is. What is the promise that Jesus makes based upon who He is? That belief takes faith, but it doesn’t have to be a blind faith.
In today’s video, Matt said, “Faith, based on facts, brings confidence.” As we discussed in Sunday’s message, there are several facts that help substantiate the claims of the resurrection. We can have confidence because there is facts that support it. Further, we can have confidence because logic does not prohibit the resurrection. Dr. Michael Licona explains the tension between science and the resurrection in the video below:

Myth #8: Science Proves that Resurrections Cannot Occur from Credo House on Vimeo.
What was the last question that Jesus asked in the passage above? That question is perhaps the single most important question that we will face in our lifetime. Do you believe that Jesus was who He claimed to be? Do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead? If not, what is keeping you from that belief? If so, why do you believe it?
