BECAUSE 50- Middle School Huddle Week 1

Jodie Blemker   -

Leaders,
We are so excited about jumping into the next 50 day series with our students.  When your group meets this week, Click Here, to watch this video that will lead us into this next 50 day journey.After watching the video as a group, spend time discussing the following questions. Remember, these are here to resource you, so if you don’t get to each one, that’s okay. Please make sure to look at the Next Steps provided at the bottom before your group dismisses.
Ice Breaker: Think of the last time you got REALLY excited about something?  What was it? What sparked your excitement and how did you respond?

Read Acts 2:42-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Begin group reading through Acts 2:42-47. Ask your group to define worship. What is Worship? What is Worship not? In Acts we see worship is so much more than singing songs of praise on Sunday mornings. {Living in community together, loving one another, helping those in need, and sharing what God is doing in our lives}

Bret said “We can feel the sense of excitement, passion, energy, and enthusiasm about our relationship with Jesus.”  Do you see people worshipping extravagantly in the same way the Bible talks about? Why or Why not?
What are the things in our lives, and in middle school that keeps us distracted from worshiping Jesus?
How do we have the same type of enthusiasm about who God is and what he is doing in our life as we do about [Insert answers described earlier in your group].”    What kind of impact would that leave behind at school if we did?

Wrapping up:Who has seen the Hunger Games?  Think of Katniss, who pleaded to take her sisters place in the games.  By stepping up and finding courage to do what she believed was right, although it involved pain, it ultimately led to her being a leader of a revolution and influencing Panem.
*End your time with Affirming who they are, their purpose, and what Jesus wants to do in them.
“God is doing something in our world.  He has a grand adventure planned, and He wants to use YOU to lead the way.”
What is 1 action step we can take this week to help us from becoming distracted, and to focus on being better worshippers of Jesus leading up to Because 50? [See Next Steps below]
