Regarding the Upcoming Project

REGARDING THE UPCOMING PROJECT
APRIL 29, 2014 TREYMCCLAIN LEAVE A COMMENT

One Lifers,
After this past Sunday I received a note from a first timer:
“Excellent service this morning!  Today was our first time ever coming!  We will be back hopefully every week; this coming from a guy who’s number on the line is around 30.”

I love the encouragement of that.  But, my favorite part is this person using the language of how to express doubt and degrees of faith, in an open way.  We are on mission.
“Faith for Doubters” is one more attempt to become more mission-driven than ever before.  This coming Sunday it all goes up several more notches with “Project:  Life”.  This is a day when we have designed the service from beginning to end for people who are “around a 30 on the line”, (or an even lower number).
We are going to give them an experience that doesn’t resemble traditional (or even contemporary) church at all.   Through music videos, a short film, secular marketplace music, teaching and even animation, we will try to inspire our skeptical friends to think deeply about the central claim of the Christian faith:  the resurrection of Jesus.  We will talk about why it can be confidently believed and why it matters so much. . . in a way they won’t expect.

Each time we have done one of these a common reaction from our people is wishing they had brought someone on their arm.  Don’t just come wishing you had invited someone.  Go ahead and extend the invitation now.   You won’t regret it.

Looking forward to Sunday,
Bret
