Losing Your Marbles

We had Next Gen Sunday at our church on November 24th. It was a Sunday given to value the next generation. Bret, our lead pastor, challenged us with the thought of making certain that we as One Lifer’s truly “see” each and every one in the next generation.  He shared from Matthew 10:30-31, the passage where we are told that God knows the number of hairs on our head.  That God sees us!  That’s our example to see all of those around us.  Once we see someone, truly see someone, we cannot ignore them. Something has to be done. That’s where we are with our next generation.
We at One Life see this next generation and we must invest in them.  Why?  Because we’re losing our marbles.  Bret used a visual of marbles in a jar that represent each week that we have with a child has before they graduate.  For a baby, that means about 936.  For a middle schooler, you cut that number in almost half.  And for a sophomore in high school, they’ve got about 100 or so weeks left before they graduate.
You see.  We’re all losing our marbles.
Time is slipping away and for that reason we need to act.
This is not to depress you, but to shake us all into seeing the end in mind.  It’s a call to action.
Seeing the next generation calls us to serve them, support them, or pray for them.
