What Leading Middle School Girls Taught Me About Happiness

Jodie Blemker   -

Last week my dad and I had a meeting about school and the subject came up-like it does a lot of times- about what I’m passionate about. It was more along the lines of what I ‘d like to do, and what I could never give up.
It’s so funny to me that one of the first things out of my mouth (like it does every single time) was my middle school girls. I have been a Student Leader to the same girls for over a year now, we’re about to have our second annual “Dress-Up Fancy Christmas Party”, which was a huge success last year.
Over the past year and a half I have learned so much through these girls, but the main thing I’ve learned? I want to do this for the rest of my life in some form. They have brought me such unexplainable joy and even though we’ve had our ups and downs, I have never stopped loving them or wanting to be their leader.
Why did they have such an effect on me? God used them to teach me a huge life lesson:
God has shown me through these girls that there is more to life than chasing your own dreams. Make life about helping other people chase their dreams.
I will always be forever thankful to God and those girls for that.
I will also always be thankful to One Life for fueling me to be the Leader I want to become and helping me realize that I have a deep desire to see the Students of this generation change the world in the name of Jesus Christ.
If you’ve led students, how has God used them to teach you?
