Huddle

Huddle // May 2018 -- Week 4

Posted on

Huddle time is an opportunity for you to connect to each other and grow in faith. The below questions are just a resource for you to use or start from. Don't feel like you have to use them all or rush through good discussion if it's happening.

Are you the type of person whose blood pressure rises and falls around political discussions?

Read: Romans 16:1-40

What are the things that stand out to you in that passage of scripture?

Paul allowed them to punish him — and only after he let them know about his Roman citizenship.

Scholars debate on why Paul didn’t tell them he was a Roman citizen before he was beaten -- why do you think he didn’t say anything?

How did God take this situation and use it to impact the people around Paul and Silas? (The miracle, the jailer, forcing the magistrates to walk them out.)

Bret mentioned growing up in a family that did a lot of political debating -- was that something that your family talked about growing up? What was that environment like for you?

Bret’s first Point was: view yourself first, foremost, and finally as a citizen of God’s kingdom.

  • For a follower of Jesus, how does that phrase lived out in their life? In your life? What looks different about your life if you are first, foremost, and finally a citizen of God’s kingdom?
  • How should that inform how you interact in the political discussion and political world?

What does it look like for us to allow this discussion to influence those around us? What is our response in our relationships and our community?

  • Share with me what or who you are praying for and why.
  • What scriptures speak to your “made for this”?
  • How did the Lord use you to show His love this week: In your everyday interaction with others?
