Scripture: Matthew 22:34-40
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38This is the first and greatest commandment.39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Questions for Reflection:

The Pharisees wanted to test and trap Jesus. Regardless of motives, the question that the Pharisee asked is very interesting. What question did he ask and how did Jesus respond? Jesus quoted from the Shema (which we looked at yesterday).

This past Sunday, Matt showed a clip from one of Tim Keller’s sermon. Keller said that the problem that we have with love is that we reordered our loves. We don’t love love the most important thing first; we’ve allowed our lovve to become disordered. Keller says, “Disordered love always leads to misery and breakdown. The only way to ‘reorder’ our loves is to love God supremely.” Spend time today evaluating your love priorities. Who or what do you love the most? and next? and next? Do you really love them in that order is it just an aspirational value for you? How can you reorder your love?
