Because 50 Day 25

Scripture Reading: Psalm 86:8-12
8Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
9All the nations you have made
will come and worship before you, Lord;
they will bring glory to your name.
10For you are great and do marvelous deeds;
you alone are God.
11Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
12I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.

Going Deeper:
Just as we sing songs regularly from Hillsong United or Jesus Culture, the psalms were the worship songs of the people of Israel. When they gathered in the synagogue or in the temple, when they walked the road to Jerusalem, they would sing the psalms as the people of God. Often the psalms were loaded with rich theological truths about the nature or character of God. What do you learn about God from the passage above? How does it inspire you to worship?
Those truths are timeless and cross-cultural. They are just the same today in the middle of America in the 21st century as they were in 1000BC in Israel. What does the psalmist ask God to do in his life in the passage above? What is God teaching you through His scriptures recently? How are yo responding to it? How does your response correlate to your belief in his faithfulness? In what areas of your life would you say your heart is divided? Are there areas that are not surrendered completely to Him? What is preventing you from making Him the Lord of that area of your life?
Spend time in prayer today. Often we run to God with a long list of things we want to get accomplished, but there are times that it is really beneficial to just talk with God and remind yourself of who He is, His character, His actions in the past in your life and His faithfulness. Spend time today praise God and glorifying His name.
