Asking the Lord for What He Wants to Give You

Dan Sullivan   -

3 Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.4  Make me to know your ways, O Lord;teach me your paths.5  Lead me in your truth and teach me,for you are the God of my salvation;for you I wait all the day long.6  Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.7  Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;according to your steadfast love remember me,for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!8  Good and upright is the Lord;therefore he instructs sinners in the way.9  He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.
Psalm 25:3–9
I had a friend that once said “If you want to see God answer your prayers, pray for the things God tells you to ask for.” This section is a great example of that. God eagerly desires to teach us His ways, and He loves it when we want to learn them.
What if we fully realized the benefit of seeking God every single day? What would happen after a month, a year, or a decade of praying “Lead me in your truth and teach me. You are the God of my salvation and I’ll wait for you all day long.”
Even though you can start doing new things any day of the year, people like to start things around January 1. What if you got a head start and sought the Lord today, and shared scripture with others to encourage them to seek Him?
The fact is, some days we might find Him! Some days we might find Him all over the simplest and most humble of activities! Begin today, and seek out the Lord. Ask Him to show you His ways and wait to see what they are. Our Father in Heaven loves that kind of stuff.
