Why can it be hard to talk about Hell and judgment?
When you talk about Hell, what would you say most people have in their mind?
Is, or has been, the topic of Hell ever been an issue for you or anyone you know?
When thinking about Hell and Judgement
Bret’s first point was to: Consider the Source
Some people think of Jesus as a “blob of non-descript kindness.” In actuality, Jesus talked about Hell and judgment more than anyone else.
Were you surprised by that? Why or why not? Does that change your perception of Jesus?
If Jesus is not the one informing our view of hell, then where would you say we get our concept of Hell or justice?
Read this quote by C.S. Lewis: “I willing believe that the damned are, in one sense, successful, rebels to the end; that the doors of hell are locked on the inside.”
Reflect on this quote. What do you think Lewis is trying to articulate by saying the doors are locked from the inside.
