Prayer for InsightO Lord, your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Give us grace to receive your truth in faith and love, and strength to follow on the path you set before us, through Jesus Christ, Amen.
Daily Bible Reading (1 Timothy 6:17-19)17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Questions for ReflectionThe problem with money is the more we have the more we tend to put our trust in it. The only cure for that problem is generosity. That’s why we are commanded to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. It’s the only way to break money’s grip on our hearts. Why do you think human nature is to want more and more money and stuff? Why is it so hard to be truly generous? What can you do to begin changing that in your own life?
Today’s “Move” PrayerGod society pushes me to want & buy. You command me to give & serve. Let your commands be my response to society.
