Leader Note: Our current cultural moment is not a time of “business as usual.” This is true of our groups as well. This is a time when connection and care need to be elevated in our groups, even if it is at the expense of our normal weekly group engagement of scripture. As you meet virtually with your groups, spend the majority of your group simply checking in with your group members—see how they are handling everything, how their spirit is holding up, if they need anything, and how you can pray for them.

GENERAL CONNECTION QUESTIONS.

  1. What is something funny that happened to you this week?
  2. When did you feel most down this week? What was it in relation to?
  3. When did you feel closest to God this week?
  4. Do you have any tips on how to find time for solitude, prayer, loving others, etc. What is working for you?
  5. How can we pray for you?
QUESTIONS/PRACTICE FROM THIS WEEK
Either individually or as a group, spend a few minutes having your group members reading through John 21.
  1. What stands out to you from this passage? What connected with your heart?
  2. This text reminds us that “Jesus kindly meets us wherever we are.” The problem is that often, we don’t take the time to process what we are feeling. How would you describe “where you are” (emotionally, spiritually) right now?
  3. This text also reminds us that “Jesus alone is our security.” How has that truth been revealed during the disruption of COVID-19?
  4. Finally, this text reminds us that “God invites us into places of healing, restoration, and purpose?” Which of those (healing, restoration, purpose) do you need most right now? Why do you think that is? How can your group come alongside of you and help you during this time?
