Because 50 Day 8

Trey McClain   -

Scripture Reading: Psalm 113:4-6
4The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
5Who is like the Lord our God,
the One who sits enthroned on high,
6who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, help me to see You in all Your majesty and identity.
Going Deeper:
When my family moved to Indiana, I was in the third grade. My mom went to work for a local bank in their mortgage department. Her boss, Mr. Williams, was one of the kindest, gentlest men I have ever met. I remember walking past his office and he would come out and talk with me. The Vice President of the Bank treated me, a tiny elementary school student, like I was of immense value. Often those who have prestigious and powerful positions delight in limiting the access to them; Mr. Williams did not act that way and neither does God.
How does the psalmist describe God in this passage? What does the term “exalted” mean? What does it communicate to you that God would stoop down to look on your life? How does the way that God loves you motivate you to love others? How could you communicate that love to others?
This week, we’re going to be leaning into who God is and how that impacts all of our life. Often we think that worship is reserved for Sunday morning. That’s not the case. Steven Cole said, “Genuine praise of God does not mean that we go around saying, “Praise the Lord” all the time. Rather, it is a response to thinking about who God is and what He has done, as revealed in His Word.” How does this passage from Psalm 113 inspire and inform your worship today? What do you learn about who God is from today’s passage?
