Because 50 Day 19

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:3-8
3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, help me to get back to the basics of my faith.
Going Deeper:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ was central to the faith of the early Christians. This creedal statement provides evidence to this fact. What does the creed claim? According to the passage, why did Christ die? Who does the passage say that He appeared to after his resurrection?
Why does the resurrection matter? Nicky Gumbel in his teaching as a part of the Alpha course explains:

Tim Keller explains the idea even further: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.” If the resurrection is true, it has profound implications for what we believe and how we behave?
Do you believe the resurrection is true? In the video Nicky explained how his belief in the resurrection and who Jesus is changed his life. How has your belief changed your life? Has it given you a greater sense of truth? Has it given you hope?
