Week 6
Worship, Love, Compassion
1. Have you ever read the Bible? How did it go? What are your challenges with reading the Bible?
2. Have you ever read a modern translation of the Bible? Which translation has been most helpful for you?
3. How do you feel about the suggestion that the Bible is a “manual for life”?
4. “What the Scriptures said, God said.” Do you share that view?
Application
Helping one another experience Jesus
Have you ever changed a belief or behavior because of something you read in the Bible? Discuss with the group what were the steps that led you to this decision. Is there anything currently that you are being challenged on?
Helping people far from God experience Jesus
In our culture “the Bible says…” does not carry the same authority it used to, especially among people far from God. How would you communicate Biblical truths without using that phrase in the front? Example: Instead of saying “the Bible says that God loves you.” you could show them that you love them through your actions, words and interaction in their life. In time you could explain that the reason you do this is because of your belief that you feel loved and want them to experience the same thing.
