10.13.24 Huddle
New Format! Instead of having two separate sections (Shortened Version and Extended Edition) we are just going to put the extra questions below the normal questions. Some of your groups meet for different amounts of time, so we’ve included extra questions if your group meets longer.
Opening Discussion
- If you had an hour of free time, what would you do?

Luke 11:11-13
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
- Jesus is talking to His disciples about prayer. Why does he call them evil?
- What does this show us about how Jesus viewed people?
- How can you ask for more of the Holy Spirit this week?
Extra Questions
- How can a person do good things but still be evil at the same time?
- What does the Holy Spirit do to get rid of the evil within us?
- What does this passage show us about God’s relationship to us?
Colossians 1:19-23
19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds as expressed in your evil actions. 22 But now he has reconciled you by his physical body through his death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before him— 23 if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become a servant of it.
- What does it mean that Jesus reconciled everything to himself?
- What were some ways you were alienated and hostile towards the Lord before you became a follower of Him?
- How did Jesus reconcile you to the Father?
Extra Questions
- Once you have been reconciled, what should your life look like?
- What are some things you do to remain grounded and steadfast in your faith?
- How can you proclaim the gospel this week?
Extra Scripture
Romans 7:15-19
15 For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 So now I am no longer the one doing it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. 19 For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.
- Why do we still sin even after we have made a commitment to follow Christ?
- What was Paul’s belief about humans and sin?
- What are some things you do to fight against that sin nature?
- What Bible verses can you quote to help you when you are tempted?
- How would you answer someone who says people are basically good?
