10.20.24 Huddle
New Format! Instead of having two separate sections (Shortened Version and Extended Edition) we are just going to put the extra questions below the normal questions. Some of your groups meet for different amounts of time, so we’ve included extra questions if your group meets longer.
Opening Discussion
- Who is someone who has helped you when had a problem? Why did they help you?
Read and Discuss
Luke 9:22
…“It is necessary that the Son of Man suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.”
Colossians 1:19-20
19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
- Why did Jesus say it was necessary for Him to suffer and be killed?
- What does it mean that God reconciled everything to Himself through Jesus?
- How does the work Jesus did on the cross, and His resurrection give you peace?
Extra Questions
- Why did the elders, chief priests, and scribes reject Jesus?
- What are some reasons people reject Jesus today?
- How can you share the peace of Christ with others?
Colossians 1:21-23
21 Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds as expressed in your evil actions. 22 But now he has reconciled you by his physical body through his death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before him— 23 if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become a servant of it.
- Why does Paul say we were alienated, hostile, and had evil actions?
- Why do some people not believe this?
- According to Paul, how do we become blameless before God?
- Why might some people believe in Jesus, but then shift away from that hope?
Extra Questions
- Are there any areas of your life where you feel like you are shifting away from the Lord?
- What do you need to do to get back on the right track?
- What would it look like to be a servant of the gospel?
Discipleship Questions
- What are some ways you remained grounded and steadfast in your faith?
- How can you help others see their sin and need for Jesus without it feeling like you are saying you are better than them?
- Who can you share the good news of Jesus with this week?
