Huddle / Common Chaos: Part 5

Onelifechurch   -

Huddle time is an opportunity for you to connect to each other and grow in faith. The below questions are just a resource for you to use or start from. Don’t feel like you have to use them all or rush through good discussion.

Stress:

How is stress, “good?”

How is stress “bad?”

Do you believe you can regulate stress in your life?

Read: Philippians 4:4-7

Quote From Bret’s Message: “Just because something is doable, doesn’t mean it’s easy.”

Where would you rank yourself on the continuum of stress? (1 being – Carefree to 10 being “I feel like I’m going to lose ‘it.’”).

For those who are lower on the continuum, how do you manage stress?

What are some other practical ways we can reduce stress?

How does prayer help reduce stress?

What would a prayer like this sound like?

Try this:

  1. Keep a thankful journal each day.  Think of 3 things each day you are thankful for.  It can be big or small; significant or insignificant.  Book recommendation: Ann Voskamp’s 1000 Gifts.
  2. Breathe deeply 3 times a day.
  3. Take a walk when you are overwhelmed.
  4. Pray. Ask God.

At One Life, we care about your life and what you are going through.  Please see the following resource for help with addictions, relationships, and stress:

How can your Group Leaders be praying for you and the addictions you struggle with?

PRAYER: This new series is really diving into the common struggles in ALL of our lives: Relationships, Addictions, and Stress. Pray for those in our city and those in your life who are affected by these three topics and opportunities to invite them.

EASY DISCIPLESHIP QUESTIONS

These are great questions and can be used one at a time, or one from each section even if time is short. Most importantly if used consistently, then people will be conscious of starting to develop the habits and lifestyle of becoming a disciple.

CONNECTING TO GOD:
How have you seen God working in your life in the last week; through successes, failures or disappointments?

Share with me what or who you are praying for and why.
What are you and your team/group members praying for?
At what moment did you feel closest to Christ this week?

CONNECTING TO SCRIPTURE:
Catch me up on scriptures you’re reading.
What is God teaching you through His word and how are you responding?
What scriptures speak to your “made for this”?
What scriptures are you struggling to understand?
What scriptures are you understanding, yet struggling to apply?

CONNECTING TO OTHERS:
How did the Lord use you to show His love this week:
In your family, team, group, or workplace?
In your everyday interaction with others?
Who are you helping to trust and follow Jesus?
What are your plans for next week in the areas of: prayer, bible study and sharing Christ’s love?
