Huddle // Shadows Part 6

Onelifechurch   -

Huddle time is an opportunity for you to connect to each other and grow in faith. The below questions are just a resource for you to use or start from. Don’t feel like you have to use them all or rush through good discussion

Have you ever read a book and then went and saw the movie and either didn’t like the movie or liked it better than the book?

Joseph was disliked by his brothers by being the favorite and basically being a tattle tale.

Can you relate to any of this with your siblings growing up?

Joseph had dreams of grandeur, but they probably didn’t work out the way he expected.

Have you ever had a dream or expectation that didn’t happen or came about in a different way?

Read: Genesis 39 (the whole chapter)

Discuss this chapter. What questions do you have? What sticks out to you?

What do you learn about Joseph’s character? Do you see any shadows of Christ in this story?

Have you ever had something bad happen to you that made you feel justified to do something bad yourself?

Read: Genesis 50:15-21

After all that has happened, Joseph’s brothers are still afraid. Discuss how Joseph talks to his brothers.

Have you ever been through a painful time and, when you look back on it, you see it as a critical time that made you who you are now or God did some amazing things through it?

Do you see a picture of Christ in the culmination of this story?

What can we learn about God from the story of Joseph?

Have a time of prayer and reflection based on this story. Pray that we might be faithful in difficult times and trust in God’s provision. Pray that God might use us in powerful ways to show others his love and provision. Finally, thank Jesus for being our ultimate savior who was reject and gave his life so that we might be restored and have eternal life.
