Huddle: Shadows Part 5

Onelifechurch   -

Huddle time is an opportunity for you to connect to each other and grow in faith. The below questions are just a resource for you to use or start from. Don’t feel like you have to use them all or rush through good discussion.

Share a story about something in your life that should go a lot smoother, but never does.
Example: Home improvement projects, relationships, etc.

If you have read or studied Numbers before, what is something you learned?
If you haven’t read it before, was there something from the message that stuck out to you?

Read: Numbers 21:4-9

God had saved his people out of slavery in Egypt, and was guiding them to the land that he promised them. Have you ever done something to help someone and they responded to you like the Israelites in the wilderness responded to God?

The people were impatient along the journey.

Can you relate to this? Do you have a story of being impatient or annoyed with how something is going or feeling like you are waiting on God?

Share a story when God came through in an unexpected way.

In the wilderness, God gave them food from heaven called Manna, but the people rejected it. Have you ever felt like what God was providing or doing wasn’t what you expected or even what you wanted?

What areas of your life are you most likely to complain about, that are actually blessings from God? Think “first world” problems.

God’s timing is often different from our timing. What is something that has helped you when it comes to trusting God’s promises during difficult seasons?

Read: John 3:14-16

Jesus’ answer to the human condition is to be lifted up on the cross. Just like the Israelites could look to the snake on the pole and live, whoever looks to Jesus lifted up will have eternal life.

How does this reality help us when we are in our own wilderness?

Do you have a story when you simply had to look to and fully rely on His promises?

Take a few moments to pray individually and then as a group that Jesus would protect our our hearts and draw us to himself when we are in the wilderness. Pray that we would not result to grumbling and rejecting God’s promises when things don’t seem to go our way. Finally, pray that as we trust in Jesus through difficult times, that he would use our example to show his love to those around us. Amen.
