Look Who Wants to Come Over

Dan Sullivan   -

The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life he brings into Light. >He was in the world, the world was there through him, and yet the world didn’t even notice.

He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves.

These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.

John 1:9–14 The Message Read More

When Jesus came into the world, it was God showing that He really really really wanted to live among us.

He wanted to live among us in the Garden of Eden, where He walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. But that didn’t work out.

He really wanted to live among us when He gave Moses the commandments and the design for the tabernacle and temple. He wanted to be among His people in day to day life. That didn’t work out either.

He really really wanted to live among us when David and then Solomon built the Temple and the Glory of the Lord filled the temple with so much power the priests ran for their lives to escape! God had a place where Jews and Gentiles could come and pray and see His greatness. That got destroyed and rebuilt due to the people’s sin a few times, and even now sits in ruins.

But God really really really wanted to live among us. In the perfect time, God came and lived among us as a real-life man. He had a scent and He had preferences of tasting this over that. He got tired and He laughed at things (probably people sometimes too! Like Peter.)

John said that no one had ever seen God, except for the One and Only Son. That was true. In response to that, the One and Only Son came to tell us all about what He had seen, because God really wanted to live among us. He knew all along that the only way that would happen would be if He did all of the work, and so that’s exactly what He did.

Now, because He did all the work and that is all that is necessary, we can be with Him.
