Huddle // 9.2.18

One Life Network   -

Huddle time is an opportunity for you to connect to each other and grow in faith. The below questions are just a resource for you to use or start from. Don’t feel like you have to use them all or rush through good discussion if it’s happening.

If you grew up in church, what was your experience with communion? What did they use for bread and wine or juice? Was it a special moment, weren’t quite sure what you were doing, or maybe a little awkward?

Read – Luke 22:7-20

The Israelites celebrated the Passover so they would remember God saving them out of slavery in Egypt and restoring them to the promised land. Jesus instituted the first communion with his disciples during the passover feast.

Have you ever thought about the meaning behind the connection of Passover and Communion?
How might it add to your understanding of communion and the whole story of the Bible?

Ben compared the Christian life to being on a road-trip. It is exciting at first, but can go through some low points along the way. Communion is a signpost that keeps us on track, reminds us where we have been and where we are ultimately going.

Why do you think it was important for Jesus to say “Do this in remembrance of me”?
Share some times that you have needed to be REMINDED and redirected in your life.

Ben compared communion to having a family crest. It explains certain things about us and reminds us of who we are as a family.

Read – John 3:16

How does Communion speak to our identities and remind us who we are?
Why did Jesus institute communion in a corporate setting and not just for individuals by themselves? What does this tell us about being a part of the family of God?

Pray together: Thank Jesus for His life, His sacrificial Death, and the reality of His resurrection.
