One Thing I Ask, In the Midst of Everything Else
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. Psalms 27:1-5 ESV Read More
While every roadtrip dad has said “getting there is half the fun,” knowing the destination is what makes the journey worthwhile. After looking at everything David went through in his life, you can appreciate his perserverance when you hear a phrase like Psalm 27:4,
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
Did he ask to become king? Nope. Did he ask to be hunted like an animal? Nope. Did he ever dream of having hundreds of loyal-to-the-death mighty men that would join him? Nope.
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
One hundred things will be thrown at you today. You have a choice of what to seek after. Jesus promised that we’d get whatever we seek. Riches, you might get them. Fame, you might get it. To dwell in the house of the Lord, look Him in the face, and have all of your questions answered – He’ll grant it.
Keep the end in mind as you run through the middle today.
