Feasting on the Good Words of God

Dan Sullivan   -

“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord;
“I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
You, O Lord, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

What if everything that went into your eyes was a seed that went down into your soul?
What if everything that you heard turned into a thought that sat in your head for 3 hours?
What if every image, comment, statement, murmur, unspoken body language, and headline mixed into a stew that was what you were given to live on for a day?
You would pay attention to what the ingredients were, wouldn’t you?
God’s word is like silver purified in the highest quality furnace. Not some tiny thing built up in a castle somewhere as a hobby. God’s word is pure and dependable as something that has had every last bit of impurity removed. The opinions, commentary, and abuses are all our own.
Whatever we take in today, let us take in a good serving of the words of God. The promises He makes to the poor and the needy will be fulfilled. Those longing for justice will have it, as will those longing for mercy. Let us not get on such a diet of wrong words that we forget God’s faithfulness.
