How To Pray for Our Church

Dan Sullivan   -

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Look at the things that Paul prays for the church in Colossae:

That they be filled with the knowledge of God’s will,
That they gain spiritual wisdom and understanding
That they walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him
That they bear fruit in every good work4a. (That they increase in the knowledge of God again)
Be strengthened in God’s power
That they’d have endurance, patience, and joy from God
That they would be thankful.

That is quite a list!
What if we changed our pace a little bit today and made this list our prayer for our church? We can focus on the “One Church, Many Locations” aspect and not even divide up Henderson, West, and East but instead pray for all of OneLife…

That we would all be filled with the knowledge of God’s will.
That we as a church would gain spiritual wisdom and understanding.
That in our jobs, schools, neighborhoods, and at church, we would walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. That we would live lives that are pleasing to Him.
That we would bear fruit in every good work that we do as a church and as a community.  4a. (Pray again that we would increase in our knowledge of God!)
That we would be strengthened in God’s power.
That we would have endurance. That all of the people on teams would have patience and joy from God. That all of the staff would have endurance and that our whole church would be full of the Lord’s joy.
That we would be thankful – for each other, for our church, for things that happen.

Take some time today to pray through this list a few times. God will meet us and answer our prayers as we join in this!
