1 Thessalonians 5:13b-15
Live in peace with each other.14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Verse 13b says “Live in peace with other.” That’s what it says to do, but we all know that isn’t always easy to do.
What does it mean to practically live in peace with each other and what are the benefits of really striving for that? Inside and outside the church. What are the benefits of that individually and collectively?
What does it mean to warn those who are idle and disruptive? That’s just a weird thing. Discuss what you guys think.
Does anyone feel disheartened? Does anyone just feel like they are in a season where they feel weak? Or have you ever been? What helped you get out of that state or what would you have liked to have happen to help you get out of that?
How can we proactively engage those who we know are in that state of being disheartened and encourage them in the faith?
Define what you think weak means? Think beyond the definition.
What’s one moment where you displayed an extreme lack of patience? (Have some fun with this one.)
What’s the real reason you were upset in that moment? What could you have done differently?

Verses 13 and 14 say that we are going to comfort, encourage and challenge each other through specific ways, but what does this passage of scripture in it’s entirety tell us about God. How does it point to the good news of Jesus?
