Scripture Reading: Revelation 7:9-12
9After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
11All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying:
“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”

Lord, help us to be truly be a place of radical belonging.

Bret read from the passage above in today’s video. How does John (the author of Revelation) identify the multitude? How large was the group? Where did the group come from? Why do you think John includes this incredible picture of diversity in his revelation? What was he communicating to his first audience? What does it teach us about the nature of God and the reality of the kingdom to come?
What was the multitude doing? We talk at One Life about the value of extravagant worship. We teach that phrase because it is what we see modeled over and over again in Scripture. The great multitude are falling down on their faces before God and in a chorus proclaiming the glory, wisdom, honor, power and strength of God. Their worship is fueled by the nature and character of God. What is it about God’s nature or character that fuels your worship. If you were completing the phrase, “God, I worship you because…” with an aspect of God’s nature or character, how would you complete it? Let that fuel your worship as we gather corporately today to worship. Allow that to become the driving force for you and fuel extravagant worship in your life today and every day.
