Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:35, 36
35Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Questions for Reflection:
On Sunday, Bret said that parents need to be calm. He also coached that parents need to be compassionate. Perhaps the best picture of compassion found in Scripture is the passage above. What was Jesus doing in the passage? How did Jesus respond to the crowds? What about the crowds drew out his compassion? When you understand where someone is, you are able to better show compassion to them. Once you’ve walked in their shoes, faced their unique struggles, you can better understand the reasons they may act, talk, look like they do. One of the easiest things in the world to do is judge someone else. It takes effort and concern to show compassion. How can you show compassion to others today?
