Let Your Kids See You
Our kids see us in many different roles. they see us as their parent, their nurse, their chef, their playmate and more. Here is one other role for our kids to see us in…serving. Have you considered the benefits of your kids seeing you serve and seeing you actively give back to God? Here are a few results that can happen when your kids see you serving.
Kids will see your faith in action. Kids will see how you rely on God to accomplish the serving. They will see the sacrifice of your time and energy for helping others experience Jesus. Your faith will not just be what you say to your kids but it will also be what you do.
Kids will see your example. Kids will see that serving and giving back to God is a priority for you. Kids also model much of what they see sometimes more than what they are told to do, so let your example do the teaching for what you want to see in your child. If they see you serve others, they will be more likely to imitate you and become servers as they grow up. They will see your serving as part of being a Christ-follower.
Building into your child’s spiritual walk. When you serve, you are growing your own relationship with God and when your relationship is stronger, it will carry over into the spiritual leadership that you give to your kids and their walk will grow stronger.
