What’s a Group Leader to do with 40 Hours?

Rebecca Rohrscheib   -

forty-ish
a kids’ group leader has 40-ish hours each year to influence your kid to experience Jesus!  the first time i heard that, it was an eye opener for me.  i realized that it wasn’t very much time, and yet sometimes parents look to the church and kids ministries to be the end all for their child’s spiritual growth.  yes, we totally want to be there for your child, but we know that the reality is our influence is limited.  but that isn’t the end of the story (or this post!)  we want to partner with you as parents to help with two distinct things that come from your child’s group leader:
illuminate God for who He is
we want to really shine the light on our Creator God so that kids will see Him for who He really is and can be in their life.  we aren’t going to get caught up in the distractions that so often churches and kids ministries can face (boycotting kids books and such).  we want to continue to keep the main thing, the main thing.  in the old testament, the lamp stand was placed to shine on the bread, which was representing God and the life He gives.  if we continue as a kids ministry to illuminate God, our kids can then in turn illuminate the world around them.
be a second voice for parents
the next thing we want to be for your child is a second voice.  we want to help say some of the things that you would want said to your child as they develop a Biblical worldview.  the kids group leaders are striving to be consistent, connecting, relational leaders that guide them to apply Biblical truths and principles in their lives.   when that happens, your kids can point the generation after them to God.
thank your child’s group leader this week!  they love your child and want to see them experience Jesus fully!
