Soulful: Week 2

Austin Maxheimer   -

Worship, Love, Compassion

Read Ephesians 1:3-14 aloud as a team. Right in the middle of verse 7 is a key phrase that we have to understand in order to hear the Good News: “the forgiveness of our trespasses.” Some translations say sins. When you hear that all humanity needs forgiveness what is your initial reaction?
Have you ever identified with feeling like an “outcast” because you felt unholy and blameful? How has that maybe clouded how you think God sees you? How does being freely adopted add to how you understand what God has done for you?
Are your “good works” based on what God has done for you or what you think you need to do for God? What do you need to think about God when you do the activities on your Mission Team?

Helping one another experience Jesus
Look through the Ephesians study guide above or your hard copy. Turn to the back and find the reading plan. Commit to each other as a team that you will take the 5-10 minutes a day to follow the reading plan. Come up with an actual plan of action to help each other stick with it, e.g. group text or partner up.
Helping people far from God experience Jesus
Look through the Ephesians study guide above or your hard copy. Go to the page titled ‘Reading Ephesians’. Read the 3rd tip for studying what you read. As you help one another commit to the reading plan, collect these thoughts and pieces of Scripture you’d like to share and start with your own team.
