It’s possible that Zacchaeus became familiar with Jesus’ ministry through the transformation that occurred in Matthew’s life. Matthew had served as a tax collector. As chief tax collector, Zacchaeus was familiar with Matthew or at least knew Matthew’s supervisor. Is there a specific person in your life who you are already in relationship with that is far from God? If so, what’s one way that you can show them the love of God this week? If not, why not? How can you get to truly know those far from God?
The busyness of our life can keep us from really knowing others. What keeps you from having time for other people in your life? What could you remove that would free up time for you to build relationships?
Trey told a story of a group that threw a birthday party as a way to put others first. How can you as a group or team serve others and put them first? How are you helping them learn to trust and follow Jesus?
