People are Storytellers

So far most of the teaching and discussion around Worldview has seemed bent more towards thought than practical matters.  But don’t forget, people have thoughts every day.  Every second.  You know that voice in your head that you are in continuous dialogue with?  Those are thoughts, and the outplaying of that conversation largely determines your actions.  Worldview inspection aims to get at the ‘why’ you have these thoughts or outlooks on life.  Getting behind something that is happening every day, every second, is about as practical as it gets.

However, when you actually go to talk to people, you’ve probably already found out that very few people go around talking about Worldview categories and questions.  What is Ultimate Reality? and What is a human being?, are not every day conversation topics. Continue Reading…

Sustaining Momentum by Storytelling

We recommended two ways to sustain positive momentum: (1) Focus on vision and mission and (2) Building relationships.  In Life Groups, we achieve these foci by living missionally and by knowing each other’s story.  I want to illustrate the connection of these points by simply telling a story from my life…if you’ve been to the new leader training, you’ve already heard it.  Sorry.

Really Know Their Story

We are asking all Life Group leaders to know the story of the people in their group.  Why?  Because knowing a person’s story allows for a real relationship, and when a group of people all know each others story, then you get an authentic community.

I think “know their story” actually means four things for you all as leaders:
