What God Did & What’s Happening Now

Dan Sullivan   -

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

This is a great verse to commit to memory. It keeps us in check whenever we think too highly of ourselves. It’s the great reminder that God is the one that saved us. When somebody is saved, they didn’t get out of trouble on their own. If they did it on their own we say they persevered, conquered, or won out. Those are all of the things that Jesus did, not us.
In fact, the thing that God did was not only the rescue. He created us in the first place so that once rescued, we could do things that would show off His kindness. Now that His kindness has been shown, it continues to have ripple effects on creation.
Did you notice when the riches of His grace would be shown? That’s not the scene that we are in right now! Kindness, salvation, redemption are all going on now, but we have been seated in Heaven in Christ so that God can show off for eternity! Whatever happens today is an act prepping creation to glorify God forever.
What are the implications of that being 100% true?
Whatever happens today is an act prepping creation to glorify God forever.
If that’s true, then like the kids down in orange, we are worshippers now. We are seated in the heavenlies and all that changes when we pass from here to there is improvement.
No boasting. We’re seated in the heavenly realms right now, worshipping God for what He did on Calvary and today.
