The Holy Spirit is the Reminder

Dan Sullivan   -

John 14:25–26 ESV

[25] “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. [26] But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

It can happen while you are driving to work or while you finish a conversation with a neighbor. It can happen in the grocery store or even at a restaurant or gas station pump. Jesus promised it and it happens:    The Holy Spirit brings something to your remembrance.
Growing up with commercials on TV for Time Life books’ alien books and media garbage full of paranormal activity and Ripley’s Believe It or Not might make us second guess all of the thoughts that pop into our head over the course of a day. It’s  nonsense or coincidence, we might say to ourselves, and then go on.
God Tells People Stuff Every Day
The truth is that God, who is above all things and knows all things, will call things into your remembrance so you can act on them. Ask a mature Christian about when they prayed for somebody at just the right time and they will probably have stories to tell. When you think of that friend that you haven’t talked to in two weeks, pray for them. Pray for them and ask God how you should pray for them. Then, if it’s possible, call them up later in the day and check on them. Sometimes just letting someone know you were praying for them is enough to increase your faith and theirs. Sometimes they’ll even drop a bomb on you like “actually, I really needed to hear that today!”
The Teacher is Still Teaching
The Holy Spirit isn’t going to keep on teaching you only so you can get smarter, He’s going to keep on teaching you to remember the things that Jesus taught. That’s how you implement the wacko rule: If it lines up with something Jesus and in that context it applies to today too, you won’t go and claim the Lord told you to do something wacko.
If you do act on what the Holy Spirit brings back to your memory, though, you might find yourself blessing the poor in spirit, helping the brokenhearted, clothing the naked, healing the sick, etc.
The Holy Spirit is the helper, sent by the Father, in the name of Jesus, to help you with all of these things.
