The Fullness of God is Pleased to Show Up in Jesus
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

As we think about it this week, let’s walk through the stages of wonder and awe in this passage.
The Fullness of God
When Jesus came and lived among the people of first-century Israel, every single bit of God was present in Him. He said to Thomas “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” Whatever questions we have about God, we can look to Jesus for the answer.
Why do bad things happen to people?
When Lazarus died and they all thought Jesus was too late, Jesus said He was glad Lazarus was dead and He wasn’t there so that they would believe. Jesus let Lazarus die so that they would all believe that He could bring people back from the dead! When He met a man that was born blind, Jesus said it was for the glory of God that the man was born blind. He was blind for a long time because babies are born, not men!
Who does God care about?
If you ever wondered what kind of people God wants to be around, look at who Jesus went out of His way to be around. Samaritans, tax collectors (ie. Traitors) and other people that most people called sinners. Jesus was around them so much that He had a reputation as a drunk and a glutton among the religious aristocrats. Jesus cared about them a lot because He saw the Father caring about them a lot. He acted on His conviction that those were the people the Father wanted to love.
As we pray to Jesus today, let’s remember that God didn’t hold anything back when He came to rescue us. He was pleased, like happy happy day pleased, to be fully in Christ and to come die for our sins. God gave all of Himself for our sakes and for His own glory. He loves us that much.
