Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:1-2
1Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Questions for Reflection:

Who wrote this letter? How did Paul & Timothy identify themselves? Who are they writing to? Why is it important to know that they are writing to “all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi”? What does this tell us about the audience? How would this impact how we interpret and apply this letter today?

From a prison cell, Paul (along with Timothy) penned a letter to a church that he had planted. The letter gives us a glimpse of how we can find joy, contentment and hope in the midst of suffering. Spend time today in prayer asking God to teach you through this book as you study it over the next five weeks.
