Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:19, 20
19Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,20for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Questions for Reflection:
In our house, we have a tendency to exaggerate the severity of things a bit at times. When I do that, my wife will offer a reality check to me by calling me “Exag.” It’s her loving way of reminding me that it might not be as bad as I’m making it out to be. As I read through the passage above, I was tempted to think, “Sure Paul, ‘ambassador in chains.’ It’s not that bad dude. Don’t be an exag.” The only problem with that thought was that Paul WAS in prison. It was that bad.
How did Paul ask the church at Ephesus to pray for him? Paul had landed in prison because he kept preaching Jesus. From prison, he asks the church to pray that he would have words to speak fearlessly. Why was Paul so intent on talking about his faith? How has your faith journey challenged the way you live your life? Do you feel emboldened to share your experiences with God with others? Why or why not?
