Proclaiming God’s Truth When You Can’t Pray

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

I have some friends that went into a very oppressed country where it was illegal to be a Christian. Overwhelmed by the spiritual weight of the ruling religion, they didn’t know how to respond or what to do. They went to the center of town and sat by a fountain and tried to pray. Finding that difficult, instead, they sat and talked to each other about the great things God had done in their lives. Just talking to each other, they could tell that the spiritual climate around them (and inside of them!) was changing as they talked about the greatness of the Lord.
When our kids are having problems and are upset about this or that, the first thing we tell them as parents is “I love you” before we sort through this or that problem. That truth bomb sets whatever else is going to be said in the right context. Proclaiming the majesty of God and the greatness of His name does that too.
Truth brings light to a subject that is otherwise confusing, and the best truth to start with is the greatness of God.
