Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:27-28a
27Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.
Questions for Reflection:
Paul tells the church at Philippi that whatever happens, they are conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. What do you thiink Paul means when he writes “conduct yourselves in a manner worthy…”? In the original Greek, the phrase connontes the idea of citizenship or making a home. Did you ever have a parent or teacher remind you to behave in a certain manner because of who you represented. I remember the speech, “Make sure you behave. You represent our school on this field trip.” Paul is expressing a similar sentiment in this passage.
Finally, what is the first two words in verse 27? What does Paul mean by “whatever happens”? Our conduct should not controlled by our circumstances but rather our identity as carriers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  What does it look like for you to live a life worthy of gospel today? What’s one tangible action that you can take today?
