Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:10-13
10I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Questions for Reflection: 
Paul is writing to thank the church at Philippi for supporting him and his ministry. The church at Philippi had sent Epaphroditus on a 800+ mile trip to give Paul money and other gifts. In the midst of his thank you, Paul tells the church that he has learned to be content? What does Paul mean by that? What examples of his contentment does hie offer in this passage?
Paul is content, but not because of physical comfort or financial resources. He is content because of his relationship with God through whom he can “do all things.” Remember that even as Paul is writing this letter, he is in jail. He’s not sitting at a resort drinking fruity cocktails with little umbrellas in them. He is contending, battling for the gospel. Jesus Christ was the driving and sustaining force in Paul’s life. He was Paul’s source of contentment. How content are you? How can you grow in your contentment.
