Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 3:13
13May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
Questions for Reflection:
Paul’s prayer life is a wonderful example for us to follow. We do not need to pray the exact words Paul prayed necessarily. It was his attitude and dedication to prayer that are the most inspiring. What did he pray for the church at Thessalonica in verse 13? Why did he pray for the hearts of the Thessalonians? He clearly was not worried about the organ, the pumping of blood and transfer of oxygen. According to FF Bruce, Paul understood that the “heart is not only the seat of understanding and will, but the place where the hidden motives of life and conduct take shape.” Paul wanted to make sure that their inner life was matching the words they claimed to believe. In our society, we would call that character or integrity. Spend time today asking God to strengthen your character. Ask Him to make you holy and blameless. Ask for Him to be the primary driving force in your life today. Then in response to what God has done and continues to do for you, worship Him extravagently.
